Chameleon, boozy changes Lovey-dovey, mom-to-all Benefit of a doubt Whispers, coquettish pout Tee-hee at all we see Little wiggle and sea parts Give you my heart of hearts The wicked aren't here Just friends and cheer Blue exotic Touch hypnotic Skin thick or thin Sin don't exist Listen and bask in mist

Angsty Boys 04:06
"Everything's rigged. Why try? What's the point? We're all gonna die," said the smug man, a cigarette in hand. All talk with no plan. He's played for a year. Now he wants to be a star. Doesn't even practice guitar. Just hangs out at the bar. Everyone's dumb; that's why he can't succeed. He's a genius because he knows how to read. Little Johnny's a nihilist, not textbook, just violence. His brain's an exhibitionist exposing thoughts that make no sense. "You wouldn't get it, man. I'm really messed up, a tortured artist, misunderstood. The world's no good." His mom baked him a pie. Money to him his dad didn't deny. Raised like a god, silver spoon and all. Never enough, so he invented a fall. Not depressed or sick, just filled with clichés and bullshit. "Working hard's a scam," he said. It's easier to romanticize the dead. The ones at the top of the food chain are the ones who are the least sane. They play mind games with others' pain. They don't get it; they just explain.

Keep It Fake 04:35
Ya gotta furrow your brow Ya gotta scowl Low brow's a cash cow Ya gotta howl Ya gotta think too much Ya gotta drink Empathy's just a crutch Ya gotta sink Ya gotta feel it, man Ya gotta cry He looks over my tan Ya gotta die Before you can earn my respect He said as he sang in my dialect That's why I keep it fake Ya gotta do them drugs Ya gotta pay Just fights, no hugs Ya gotta pray Ya gotta get in your feels Ya gotta feel Go to the devil for deals Ya gotta deal Ya gotta romanticize The past Ya gotta talk down And fast Ya gotta talk all abstract So no one knows You've got no tact That's why I keep it fake Old men like to look at me Talmbout how it used to be Robotic knowledge of the blues Even though, I've paid more dues Fuck the 20th century And if you fail, who cares? It's art And if you don't, awesome! You're smart Rumination Station is a stop to destroy your mind I'm Dorian Grey with a conscience Life's a play with lines to memorize And that's okay Stop complicating bodily functions We're meant to live and thrive By faking it, you will learn to survive

Be a follower. Follow me. Loving, Leading, Breeding Giving, Needing, Reading, Bleeding, Feeding. It's okay to be okay, okay? Time out is fun. Learn to play. Fighting, Mighting, Lighting, Righting, Sighting, Knighting, Inciting, Biting. Tough at home, weak at work. One man's cross is another's perk.

AEIOUY BCDFGHJKLMNPQRSTVWXZ I want to love you and to love me because it will make us happy, and it will help me to believe that all I have to do is be someone who loves you and loves me, and that will be all that I see which will make life naturally more clear and fun and more holy like birds and grass and a big tree under which I sit with such glee in woods so serene and breezy steeped in glows that make me hazy as I slink about so sleazy like a slug, I strut so lazy but with grace ecstatically, I ogle joys unknown quickly; never has it been more pretty nature, oh how you are lovely with blooms strewn about in the sea of seas in seas of seas of z that buzz and buzz all over me awash in sap and drunk on brie as I flout about in a lee stripping myself of lies that we don't need to believe; the true key is that the beauty does not flee, it stays if you want to be free.

Wisdom 01:11
"When you're older, you'll understand. It gets colder. Time moves like sand through the hourglass so fast. So make the good times last," the old man said to me, as he smiled with little empathy. "I'm a wise one. So brave." He thinks the young ones don't behave. So tough. So smart. Men like him play the part. Stop wasting my time. Give me peace, no more crime. No more empty quotes. No more anecdotes to use as power over me. I just wanna be free.

Sleeping at the world's edge, a petal in hand A kiss from a decade ago lingers on my lips Hoping for some triumphant nostalgia The brigade of bums, each armed with a blunt badger To gnaw at my spirit but they're mistaken They need a beaver I'm a pushover, a fucking somebody in storage I don't purchase your fucks, you fucks A damsel in distress edging for centuries Until a knight in tinsel joins in the fun I walk at night on the concrete campus, meditating glamorous Yellow streetlamps are feu follets that beguile me to a life of prayer Alone, a digital gust of wind licks in tongues to future civilizations dead Somewhere between Joan of Arc and Black Christina Hendricks A flower is faxed to the goddess of Ƶ Bouquet of flames frizzy Doesn't need to ask permission as it sublimates Into the infinite dusk

about

"Papier-Mâchier Glam" is a return to pop after several years of instrumental experimentation. Inspired by "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde, the album reframes Dorian as a realist in a world obsessed with authenticity. If authenticity can't be measured and only felt, then the need to prove oneself is effectively an exercise in pantomime. By freeing himself from this worldview, Dorian is able to create on his own terms; the difference being that here, he has a conscience, a moral libertine.

The lyrics call out harmful myths placed on artists "ya gotta romanticize the past" as well as call for less pressure on people to lead "be a follower". It's not so much a break with tradition as a break with nostalgia. The revising of history to fit narratives of people in power is lying and prevents young people from forming their own positive narratives. The use of glam to point this out is subversive because it's usually seen as escapist music. But what's wrong with a bit fun?

After a move to NOLA, she took on the name Eyelashes! Initially an experimental venture, glam found its way back in the mix after relocating to LA. Now back in Charm City, she continues to craft her unique brand of DIY rock. ... more
